Corporate Membership

Dear Colleague,

I would like to invite you and your company to become an inaugural Corporate Member of the Australian Society for Antimicrobials (ASA).

After meeting with several representatives from the pharmaceutical and diagnostic industry during the Society’s 2005 annual scientific meeting in Lorne, Victoria, the ASA Executive has established three categories for Corporate Membership. These include:

  • Platinum Corporate Member
  • Gold Corporate Member
  • Silver Corporate Member
  • Bronze Corporate Member

Depending on the category, Corporate Membership offers your company several opportunities related to the annual scientific meeting including:

  • Acknowledgment in the programme and abstract booklet
  • Acknowledgment during the meeting
  • Sponsorship of a morning tea, lunch session or welcome reception
  • Satchel insert
  • Complementary registration(s)
  • Advertising space in the programme and abstract booklet
  • Provisions of either pens or pads
  • Breakfast or Lunch Symposium during the meeting

In addition, Corporate Members will also be acknowledged on the ASA website (www.asainc.net.au) with links to the company’s webpage. Corporate members are also entitled to all the benefits associated with membership of the Society including access to the member’s area of the website and the quarterly newsletter, discounted registration to the ASA annual scientific meeting etc.

Since becoming incorporated in March 1999, ASA’s membership now covers a diverse background of professions interested in the study of antimicrobials including clinical microbiologists and infectious diseases physicians, respiratory and ICU physicians, medical and non-medical microbiologists, scientists, pharmacists, veterinarians, undergraduate and postgraduate students and industry representatives from pharmaceutical and diagnostic/research biomedical companies. Although ASA’s membership is primarily based in Australia and New Zealand, it now extends to the UK, USA, France, Belgium, Singapore and Japan.

The Society publishes an electronic quarterly newsletter, organises an annual scientific meeting, provides travel awards, has a well developed webpage, supports, in conjunction with other Societies, an overseas speaker- programme, provides workshops and has recently completed its first set of guidelines (Staphylococcal Sepsis). In addition ASA is the corporate partner for the Australian Group for Antimicrobial Resistance (AGAR), a federally funded body which performs a number of antimicrobial susceptibility surveillance programmes.

Many of these activities are only possible with the generous support of the industry.

Please do not hesitate to contact the Society (info@asanc.net.au) if you have any queries.

Yours sincerely,

Prof. Geoffrey Coombs
President of ASA
